Finnish International School held Teacher Training Program Graduation Ceremony

Finnish International School held Teacher Training Program graduation ceremony and officially announced the completion of FIS teacher recruitment and selection process.

13 highly qualified teachers selected from more than 200 candidates have successfully completed the basic level trainings in Finnish Learning Model-the best education approach in the world, organized by Polar Partners Ltd, University of Turku and Koulu Education Group from Finland.

During 3 month training program, FIS teacher candidates were trained by the Finnish trainers in the following skills:

• Understanding the values of Finnish Education "To raise active citizens for the future" & "Education for life, not for tests".
• Why the research does based, stress-free, playful and individual learning result in better learning outcomes?
• Learning various child-centered teaching methods.
• Finnish Curriculum: How to combine the academic subjects with the new life-skills of the future.
• Why does the the same teacher teach all the subjects to the same group and why it brings better learning results.
• Teamwork and the benefits of two teachers teaching one group of 15 individual students.

6 teachers, who were finally selected will get 7 months of further training, including a visit to Finland in August to practice Finnish teaching methods with Finnish colleagues.

They will have the opportunities to do real projects outside the school to learn deeply how the worlds work and use latest technology to support personal learning, i.e. language learning robots to practice English skills.

These selected 6 teachers will teach the first 3 grades of the school, so every group of 15 students will have 2 personal teachers.
There are Georgian as well as foreign teachers (also from Finland) among the selected Finnish International School teachers.
